Coverage reality for remote work
In major cities in Turkey, 4G is generally adequate for remote work (video calls, email, cloud). Outside cities, service can be intermittent.
Best-infrastructure cities for nomads:
- Istanbul: Excellent coverage; Bosphorus bridges and Metrobus corridors well-covered.
- Ankara: Capital; solid 4G/5G in main districts.
- Antalya: Beach resort; Old Town and hotel zones well-served.
- Bodrum: Peninsula covered; boat trips to Greek islands can lose signal.
Connectivity strategy
- Base: accommodation with Wi-Fi (speed-test before committing to a long stay).
- Backup: eSIM with a large or unlimited plan (15–30 GB/month minimum).
- Important calls: coworking space or verified-Wi-Fi café + eSIM hotspot as fallback.
Typical monthly consumption
Full-time remote work (~8 hrs/day): 60–100 GB/month if relying only on mobile data. With Wi-Fi as your base and data as backup: 10–20 GB/month.
